Terms of Service

These terms govern the provision of roofing services by Roof Repair BNE (hereafter "Roof Repair BNE", "we", "us", "our") to customers in the Brisbane metropolitan area. By engaging us to perform roofing work, you agree to these terms.

1. About us

Roof Repair BNE connects customers with QBCC-licensed roofing contractors. All roofing work is performed by appropriately licensed contractors in accordance with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991 (Qld). We carry public liability insurance appropriate to residential roofing work.

2. Inspections and quotes

Roof inspections, including the accompanying photo report, are provided free of charge and without obligation. All quotes are provided in writing following inspection and prior to commencement of work. Quotes are valid for 30 days from issue unless otherwise noted.

Quoted figures are based on the roof condition observable at inspection. Where the actual scope expands during the work (e.g. additional deteriorated battens or broken tiles discovered once work begins), we will pause work, document the additional damage with photos, and provide a written variation quote before continuing.

For fixed-price work, the quoted price is binding subject to the scope and conditions stated in the quote.

3. Pricing

Our standard pricing structure:

  • Roof inspection and photo report free of charge, with no obligation
  • All work quoted as a fixed price in writing against a documented scope before commencement
  • Storm damage make-safe work quoted before attendance wherever practicable
  • Insurance repair work quoted and itemised against the assessed scope of works
  • No surge pricing during storm season for equivalent work

All prices are quoted inclusive of GST.

4. Payment

Payment is due on completion of work. Accepted methods:

  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX)
  • EFTPOS
  • Bank transfer (cleared funds required for completion sign-off)

For larger jobs such as restorations and replacements, deposit and progress payments may be arranged in writing prior to commencement, consistent with the limits that apply to domestic building contracts under Queensland law. We do not accept cash payments for jobs over $1,000, to maintain clean documentation for insurance and tax purposes.

Accounts unpaid 30 days after the invoice date may incur interest at the rate stated on the invoice and may be referred to debt recovery.

5. Workmanship warranty

Every repair, restoration and replacement comes with a workmanship warranty provided in writing, with the warranty period stated on your quote and completion paperwork. If our workmanship fails within the warranty period, we will attend to remedy the issue at no charge. This warranty operates in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and the statutory protections that apply to Queensland building work.

The workmanship warranty does not cover:

  • Failures caused by misuse, foot traffic, or unauthorised modification by the customer or third parties (e.g. trades accessing the roof after our work)
  • Damage from subsequent extreme weather events such as cyclones, hail, or falling trees and debris
  • Deterioration of roof areas or components outside the engaged scope of work
  • Wear and tear of components beyond their reasonable service life

6. Manufacturer warranties

Manufacturer warranties on supplied materials (e.g. roof sheeting, roof tiles, and roof coating or paint systems) are passed through directly to the customer, and the relevant warranty documentation is provided on completion. Warranty claims for materials are made to the manufacturer; we will assist in coordinating warranty attendance where required.

7. Customer obligations

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about the roofing issue and property
  • Provide reasonable access to the roof and work areas, including driveway access for equipment where required
  • Disclose any known asbestos (common in pre-1990 Brisbane roofs and eaves), hazardous materials, or unusual building conditions before work commences
  • Keep people and pets clear of the work area while work is under way
  • Provide power and water access as required for the work
  • Authorise the quoted scope before work proceeds
  • Pay invoiced amounts when due

8. Weather and scheduling

Roofing is weather-dependent. Work may be postponed for rain, high winds, storms, or extreme heat, since working on a wet or storm-affected roof is unsafe and can compromise workmanship (particularly for pointing, painting and coating work). We will reschedule postponed work as promptly as conditions allow, with no charge for weather delays.

9. Cancellations

Booked inspections and scheduled work can be cancelled or rescheduled at no charge with reasonable notice. Where a crew has already been mobilised to site for scheduled work cancelled on the day, reasonable mobilisation costs may be charged, quoted to you before any charge is made.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for defective workmanship is limited to the cost of remediation of the defective work. We are not liable for consequential losses including loss of business, loss of rent, or loss of use beyond what is covered by our public liability insurance.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or the Australian Consumer Law, nor any non-excludable statutory protection applying to Queensland building work.

11. Insurance documentation

Where work is performed in response to an insurance event (e.g. storm or hail damage), we provide standard insurance documentation including an itemised quote or invoice, dated photographs of the damage and completed work, and a written scope of works, at no additional charge.

Additional reports requested by your insurer beyond standard documentation may incur a fee, quoted in advance.

12. QBCC requirements

Roofing work in Queensland valued over the QBCC licensing threshold must be performed by a QBCC-licensed contractor, and residential work above the statutory value threshold is covered by the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme, with the applicable premium itemised in the quote where required. Contract documentation for domestic building work is provided in accordance with Queensland requirements.

13. Privacy

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988.

14. Disputes

If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first at info@roofrepairbne.com.au so we can attempt to resolve the matter directly. If we cannot reach resolution, you may lodge a complaint with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (qbcc.qld.gov.au), which operates a dispute resolution process for building work, or apply to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT).

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

16. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time you engage our services will apply to that engagement. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when these terms were most recently revised.
